Beyond Our Walls

Community Outreach

Our faith compels us outward — into the streets, schools, and homes of Burnaby, bringing practical care to those who need it most.

Community Is Our Ministry

At Harvest Mission Church, community outreach is not a department — it is our identity. We believe the church exists for the world around it, not just the people within it. Every program, every volunteer hour, and every partnership is an expression of our commitment to be the hands and feet of Christ in Burnaby and beyond.

We work relationally, not transactionally. We do not simply deliver services; we build genuine friendships across cultural, generational, and economic lines. We believe that the most powerful thing we can offer anyone is not a resource, but a relationship.

Our outreach teams are active year-round, engaging with schools, community centres, social agencies, and individual families to ensure that no one in our city feels invisible or forgotten.

Become a Volunteer

Our outreach programs are powered by the time, energy, and heart of our volunteers. Whether you can offer two hours a week or two days a month, there is a meaningful role here for you.

Volunteers serve in a wide range of capacities: preparing and serving food, leading English classes, visiting seniors, tutoring students, mentoring youth, helping newcomers navigate settlement systems, or supporting administrative and logistics functions behind the scenes.

All volunteers receive an orientation, ongoing training, and the support of a dedicated volunteer coordinator. We are committed to making your experience meaningful, safe, and deeply rewarding.

Community impact and transformation story

Lives Changed, Community Strengthened

"When we arrived in Burnaby with two young children and no network, Harvest Mission was the first place that felt like home. They helped us find language classes, connected us with other families, and welcomed us without condition."

Stories like this are why we do what we do. Behind every statistic is a person — a family that found their footing, a teenager who discovered their purpose, a senior who no longer feels alone.

Each year, thousands of individuals in Burnaby interact with our outreach programs. Each of these interactions represents an opportunity to demonstrate that people matter, that communities can rally around individuals in need, and that faith-driven service produces real, lasting transformation.

Community Partnerships

We believe no organisation can or should serve a city alone. Harvest Mission Church actively seeks and sustains partnerships with organisations that share our commitment to community wellbeing.

Local Schools

Partnering with Burnaby School District to provide tutoring, supplies, and wraparound support for students and families in need.

Social Service Agencies

Collaborating with settlement agencies, food banks, and social services to ensure seamless referrals and integrated support for our shared clients.

Healthcare Providers

Connecting community members with health resources, preventative care information, and counselling services through trusted healthcare partners.

Serve Alongside Us

Every volunteer hour, every act of kindness, and every relationship built makes Burnaby a stronger, more connected community. We invite you to be part of the change.
